make them unstoppable with national citizen service

Middlesbrough teens are being offered an amazing opportunity during the summer holidays.

Open to all 16-17 year olds, National Citizen Service (NCS) offers teens the chance to change their summer with an adventure and discovery packed experience – costing just £50 or less.

The four week, once-in-a-lifetime, opportunity enables young people to:

• Take on new challenges and build skills for work and life
• Develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills
• Meet incredible people
• Boost CVs, UCAS applications and access future opportunities
• Make a difference in their local community.

NCS graduate Savannah, from Middlesbrough, said: “Before NCS I was adamant that I didn’t have the confidence to take on new challenges and meet new people. NCS helped me conquer my fears and I feel like a different person now. The skills and confidence I’ve developed have helped me get on at college and in life.”
The NCS Journey

Phase 1 – Adventure

NCS begins with five days living away from home, experiencing adventure somewhere like the Lake District, Scottish borders or North Yorkshire with fun activities such as canoeing and rock climbing. Week one of NCS gives teens the perfect platform to make new friends and enjoy some fun and freedom after the stresses of GCSE exams.
Phase 2 – Discovery

A further five days and four nights in a university-style environment helps teens develop life skills like confidence, leadership and communication, which all help to boost CVs or UCAS personal statements.
Phase 3 – Action

Next, they’ll work with their NCS team to put new skills into practice by delivering a community project about the issues that matter to them.
Phase 4 – Celebration

At the end of the programme participants enjoy a graduation event where they’ll be reunited with friends and celebrate their successes. NCS graduates will receive a certificate signed by the prime minister and what’s more, can access exclusive volunteering and work opportunities.
Thanks to government-backing all activities, food, accommodation and transport to residentials are included for £50, with bursaries available to any young people eligible for free school meals, lowering the cost to £10.

Departure dates in Middlesbrough include 20th July, 24th July, 30th July, 3rd August and 7th August. Places are already limited. To reserve a place, teenagers or parents should visit or call 0191 247 4020.
