cattle and cane to perform at prestigious canada music week showcase

Teesside band Cattle & Cane have been invited to perform at this year’s Canadian Music Week, a prestigious annual music conference and festival held in Toronto from 7th – 13th May. Led by siblings Helen and Joe Hammill, the group will perform at two official CMW showcase gigs and meet music industry experts from across the world.

“It’s a real honour to be asked to play at such a well-respected music showcase and it’s an amazing opportunity for us to promote ourselves in North America” said Joe.

“For an independent band like us, heading from Thornaby over to Toronto will be such an incredible experience and after a brilliant 2017, it will help us make 2018 the best year ever” added Helen.

Ahead of their journey to Canada, the band have launched a PledgeMusic campaign where fans can support the band’s Canadian adventure by purchasing a selection of items and experiences, ranging from handwritten lyrics and personalised postcards to intimate house concerts and dinner parties, as well as signed CDs and vinyl:

“We’ve loved working with PledgeMusic for our album releases, it’s such a great way to connect with our fans” said Helen. “We can’t thank them enough for helping us do what we do - we feel so lucky to have such a supportive and passionate fanbase” she added.

After spending 2017 sharing stages with the likes of Tom Odell, Brian Wilson and The Head & The Heart, not to mention performing countless sold-out headline dates across the UK, the band will be warming up for their trip to Canada with a UK tour with Nerina Pallot this April before returning home for a very special concert at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Friday 8th June alongside the Northern Orchestra.

Released last May, the band’s sophomore album ‘Mirrors’ effortlessly illustrates Cattle & Cane’s ability to shift even the hardest of hearts with their perfect, soaring, harmonies. The album skyrocketed into the official album charts and the success of the record has helped the band pick up nominations in three categories at the 2018 Unsigned Music Awards, with the winners set to be announced at The Great Escape in Brighton later this year.

‘Mirrors’ garnered a plethora of critical acclaim with Elton John declaring his love for album opener ‘Love On Your Hands‘ on Beats 1 and ‘7 Hours’ picking up numerous radio-plays from long-time fan Dermot O’Leary on BBC Radio 2. Additional airplay came from the likes of Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio, Gary Crowley on BBC London, Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6 Music and John Kennedy on Radio X, to name but a few.

Over on Spotify, ‘7 Hours’ passed the 1 million streams milestone in less than 6 months and ‘Love On Your Hands’ featured on the prestigious New Music Friday UK playlist. Meanwhile, ‘Fool For You’ earned the band a live session on Vintage TV and was added to the BT TV music playlist, as well as featuring on Sunday Brunch, Made In Chelsea and The Only Way Is Essex.
